C Drive
The C drive is the hard disk drive on your individual workstation. You are able to write to this drive and it is backed-up daily. However, if you want remote access to your data or the ability to share data with others, you must store data on a network server or use IVE. For security reasons, network C drives cannot be shared and cannot be accessed remotely. Sensitive data should not be stored on your C drive.
M Drive
Network users receive individual file storage on network file servers. This storage area is called your M drive. The M drive gives you secure space that no one else can access. It is accessible locally (from your office workstation) and remotely via Terminal Server. The M drive is backed-up daily.
Shared Folders/Directories
Departments and work groups that need to share files can create shared directories, also called 'folders.' You can purchase a dedicated server for this, which we will install and support in our server room, or you can use space on an existing network server. If you use existing space, based on the extent of your needs, you may be asked to contribute to the purchase of an additional server. Directories are backed-up daily and are accessible remotely via Terminal Server. To set-up shared space on a network server, please submit a SARF.
