The Division currently has and is expanding a commitment to teaching in the areas of methods for clinical research. Faculty are currently active in Clinical and Translational Sciences Training (CTST) and Training in Clinical Research (TICR).
Continuing Medical Education (CME)
Osteoporosis 2011: New Insights in Research, Diagnosis and Clinical Care; Dennis Black and Ann Schwartz, Course Chairs. This 2-day course features an expert faculty that will discuss the epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of osteoporosis. Specific topics will include the cell biology of osteoporosis, bone biomechanics, endocrine and nutrition aspects of osteoporosis, and advances in skeletal imaging, such as CT and MRI scanning. The course will also critically review current treatment options and preview new treatments under study. There will be an emphasis on recent developments and current controversies in the etiology, diagnosis, and management of osteoporosis.
Northern California Bone and Mineral Symposium; Dennis Black and Ann Schwartz, Course Chairs. This meeting is designed for those with a strong interest in clinical care of osteoporosis and bone-related diseases and will focus on new and emerging information. Features include:
- Review of information presented at the annual American Society of Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) meeting
- Case presentations
- Current controversies in diagnosis, treatment and management of osteoporosis and bone-related diseases
