Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS)

Provides information on health status, health care use and expenses, and health insurance coverage of individuals and families in the United States, including nursing homes residents.

Years Available: 1996-present

Methods: Nationally representative survey

Sampling Design: Two calendar years of information are collected from each household in a series of five rounds of data collection over a 2 1/2 year period of time, these data are then linked with respondents medical providers, employers, and insurance providers. Data collection activities is repeated each year on a new sample of households.
