and Cancer Epidemiology

chart The Genetic and Cancer Epidemiology Division in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics provides training in modern epidemiologic and genetic epidemiologic approaches to studying chronic diseases such as cancer. Faculty also teach in the UC Berkeley, School of Public Health. Faculty conduct research on the causes of a wide variety of diseases, including breast, lung, colon, prostate and brain cancers, lymphoma, leukemia, and pancreatic cancer. They also study methods to enhance early detection of disease, conduct prevention and treatment clinical trials, evaluate quality of life, survival, and other outcomes. Finally, the faculty undertake methodological research into the design and analysis of modern epidemiologic studies.
